Teach For Ukraine Fellowship changes education — and changes lives.
This year, the leadership development program through teaching in small towns and villages, which has been running since 2017, celebrates a special milestone: a former student of one of our alumni has joined the program!
Yelyzaveta Shelestova is now teaching English at Piskivskyi Lyceum in the Kyiv region. Her journey with Teach For Ukraine, however, began years ago, when her teacher was Anna Alieksieieva — a 2019 participant of the program.
“The idea of joining the program stayed with me for several years, because I had already seen how Teach For Ukraine was changing education at my own school. Thanks to the program, I met a teacher who helped me discover my passion — international relations and educational projects. After university and a few years of professional experience in these fields, I decided to return to Teach For Ukraine in a new role — as a teacher myself. I want to support rural students in their own journeys of self-discovery and share my experience with them,” Yelyzaveta shares.
