Manuals for teachers and facilitators: new opportunities to gain knowledge and skills

NGO Teach For Ukraine experts developed unique materials for teachers and facilitators for the project “Tutoring Catch-up in a secondary school.” They are designed to help teachers catch up on their knowledge.

These are collections of materials and recommendations in six subjects and a guide for Digital Learning Center (DLC) facilitators. The manual can be used as a separate course or integrated into subject-based learning, depending on the needs of the educational institution or child. Each manual has passed expert evaluation, peer review by representatives of the Ukrainian Center for Assessing the Quality of Education, and coordination with leading specialists of the relevant subject.

facilitation materials

The facilitation manual is universal: it can be used by teachers of various subjects and extracurricular staff working with teenagers. This is a ready-made cycle of classes where a teenager develops and masters goal-setting skills. The manual contains materials for conducting tutoring hours.

Olga Ivashura, head of the expert group for developing the manuals, says:

“These materials are a ready-made product created by NGO Teach For Ukraine, which a teacher can use not just as a textbook with tasks for students, but as a full-fledged package of materials for preparing and conducting classes. The manuals contain everything you need for high-quality training: interactive exercises, training videos, various tasks with answers, and theoretical sections that simplify teacher training. Their value also lies in the approach to development, because practicing teachers who teach in schools were involved in this process. Teachers had full academic freedom, which allowed them to create a product that was maximally adapted to the needs of students and with knowledge of the specifics of working to overcome educational losses. It is worth noting that each manual’s materials are based on the basic ideas of the concept of the new Ukrainian school and correspond to industry-specific model curricula created on the basis of the state standard of Basic Secondary Education”.

The manuals were developed with the support of international humanitarian organization Save the Children.
