How do you motivate students to catch up on learning losses in math, especially when those lessons take place after regular school hours? Sofiia Myshelova, a math teacher at Velykodimerskyi Lyceum in Kyiv region, uses a variety of approaches: Small Talk (a casual, friendly chat) at the start of each session, gamification, interactive drills… and a strong focus on teamwork. In the context of war, not all children have equal access to education. A significant number still study exclusively online because, for example, their schools lack shelters or are located near conflict zones. The psychological state of children is also changing. All these factors affect the quality of learning and knowledge retention.

Dmytro has been teaching history for two years at the Klavdiivskyi Lyceum named after Oleksandr Rybalka in Kyiv Oblast. Among his students are high school seniors who are already closely observing the adult world, imagining themselves in their future dream careers.

The Ukrainians is an independent Ukrainian media outlet that tells stories about people, ideas, and values that are changing our society. Ninth-grade students from the Petrivskyi Lyceum of the Petrivska Village Council, where Inna Stokratna teaches Ukrainian language and literature, visited the media’s office.

The local history society of Bucha Lyceum No. 5 — where Teach for Ukraine fellow Nadiia Naida teaches history — has been raising funds to create a digital memory route, a project that will become part of the city’s historical heritage.

Together with Teach For Ukraine participant Mariia Papchenko and their homeroom teacher Valeriia Oleksandrivna, students of Class 8-V at Hrebinkivskyi Lyceum visited the Bila Tserkva Book Printing Factory. The visit became a key step in their student-led project — a collaborative book that began as a Ukrainian language class assignment.

At the invitation of Bohdana Telychuk, a first-year fellow of the Teach for Ukraine Fellowship program, documentary filmmaker Yevhen Matviienko visited the Hrebinka Research Gymnasium. He presented his project Varta, which portrays the war through the stories of powerful individuals.

I was browsing through master’s programs, looking for something new — I knew for sure I wanted a different major than my bachelor’s. That morning, I got a message from a friend:
