Teach For Ukraine NGO is proud to announce that its Chairperson, Oksana Matiash, has become the first Ukrainian selected to join the prestigious Obama Foundation Scholars program. Oksana will be part of the sixth cohort of scholars—12 emerging leaders from around the world—who will participate in a special program at Columbia University in New York City during 2023-2024.

20,000 Educators Have Completed the Online Course “Brave to Teach” and Are Already Applying the Advice in Practice
The course “Brave to Teach” for educators on teaching during crisis was developed by the educational organization Teach For Ukraine NGO with support from the UNICEF Ukraine within the “Together for Learning” initiative, in partnership with the online education studio EdEra. The course launched in October 2022, and within just three months, 20,000 educators have used the recommendations on teaching and interacting with children during the war. The number of new participants continues to grow actively.

Teach For Ukraine and UNICEF Developed a Calendar for Educators: “The Year of Brave Teachers”
The calendar “The Year of Brave Teachers” was created to serve as a daily reminder of the importance of caring for one’s mental health. Educators received this gift by sharing their experience using the chatbot assistant in their daily practice. The calendar was developed within the “Spilno for Teachers” project by the educational organization Teach For Ukraine NGO with support from UNICEF Ukraine as part of the “Together for Learning” initiative.

50,000 Views of “Spilno for Teachers” Mental Health Webinars
Fifty thousand views of the “Spilno for Teachers” webinars give us reason to believe that education is always timely, especially in times of crisis. As part of the “Spilno for Teachers” project, the educational organization Teach For Ukraine NGO, supported by UNICEF Ukraine, organized a series of six online mental health support webinars for educators. Together with experts and practicing psychologists from the organization Tolerance Space, over 400 educators received valuable advice on how to maintain their own resources, analyzed cases of working with students, and explored ways to resolve conflict situations.

“Spilno for Teachers” Educational Visits: Summary
As part of the “Spilno for Teachers” project, the Teach For Ukraine team, in partnership with UNICEF Ukraine, conducted 14 support visits for educators across the country. Olya Yurchyshyn, Head of School & Community Partnerships at Teach For Ukraine, along with experts — psychologist Anastasiia Anosova and Ukraine’s Education Ombudsman Serhii Horbachov — met with teachers in various regions: Kyiv, Odesa, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Lviv oblasts.

The free online course “Brave to Teach” helps teachers navigate the challenges of teaching during wartime
The educational organization Teach for Ukraine NGO and the online learning studio EdEra have developed a course on teaching during times of crisis. The course has received official endorsement from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and offers a certificate of professional development.
