Amid the devastating impact of the Russian war on Ukraine’s education system and the significant gender gap in technology fields, the educational organization NGO Teach For Ukraine, supported by the international company Mastercard, has engaged over 500 girls in the Girls4Tech training and educational program.
Launched in 2014, the Girls4Tech program aims to spark girls’ interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and expand their opportunities for successful careers in these fields. Throughout the program, girls will unlock their potential in technology, gain practical skills, build confidence, and set goals for their future growth.
Ukraine is now the 63rd country to join the network of Girls4Tech partner countries powered by Mastercard. The program focuses on key areas such as the digital world, big data, digital footprints, and artificial intelligence. During the autumn break, participants will attend four sessions on each topic and engage with star experts, including specialists from Mastercard.
The instructors’ mission is to inspire girls to explore STEM fields, broaden their horizons in innovation, help identify priority directions, and develop skills to shape their own educational and career paths — empowering them to independently achieve their goals.
Mastercard and NGO Teach For Ukraine Launch Girls4Tech Educational Program in Ukraine

“We are delighted to partner with Teach For Ukraine to support the education system in Ukraine and warmly welcome Ukraine as the 63rd country in our Girls4Tech community!” said Susan Warner, founder of the Girls4Tech educational program and Mastercard’s Vice President of Community Engagement.
For Teach For Ukraine, Girls4Tech marks the sixth urgent educational aid project launched during the war. Thanks to previous waves, more than 10,000 children of different ages have received quality lessons aligned with the school curriculum and vital support during this difficult time. This project particularly focuses on empowering girls who aspire to technical careers but hesitate due to stereotypes and lack of information.
“We believe education is not just a response to crisis but the key to overcoming it. During wartime, expanding girls’ rights and opportunities in STEM is not a choice — it’s a responsibility. Together with Girls4Tech, Teach For Ukraine strives to equip our girls with the skills and opportunities they need to build a brighter, more resilient future for themselves and for Ukraine,” said Oksana Matiyash, Chairperson of Teach For Ukraine.
