The Spilno for Teachers chatbot was developed to support educators during various crises caused by the war. The tool includes helpful resources to maintain teachers’ mental well-being, practical teaching strategies, and a space to keep notes about students’ emotional states. The chatbot was created by the educational organization Teach for Ukraine NGO with the support of UNICEF in Ukraine, as part of the Spilno to Learn initiative.

The chatbot includes 4 key sections:
My Observations: a convenient tool for logging notes about students’ emotional and psychological well-being. The section includes pre-set psychological markers developed by experts, helping teachers identify areas of concern.
Student Card: this section gathers all the information logged in the My Observations category. It allows teachers to track trends and dynamics in students’ states over time. Personalized notifications can be set up to prompt regular note-taking.
Useful Resources: online courses, expert articles, videos, and practical webinars — all in one place and always at hand for educators.
Quick Tips: this section offers fast-response strategies to manage classroom crises and ways to care for one’s own emotional state.

“Our goal was to create a mental health support tool that teachers could always have at their fingertips. These days, some educators can’t join webinars or don’t have access to electricity to watch an online course. At Teach for Ukraine, we understand these barriers. This chatbot is mobile-friendly, doesn’t require a high-speed internet connection, and was tested with feedback from real teachers. These were our top priorities to ensure the tool is truly useful.”
— shared Solomiya Boikovych, project manager of Spilno for Teachers at Teach for Ukraine NGO.

As part of the Spilno to Learn initiative, the Teach for Ukraine team also developed the Brave to Teach online course, a series of mental health webinars, a course for regional teacher training institutes, and in-person school visits. The chatbot became the final piece of this comprehensive support system, always available on a mobile phone and easy to use.

The chatbot is available on Viber and Telegram. To start using it, simply follow the link, click “Start,” and follow the instructions.
