Kherson lies in ruins, but the children and parents remain unbroken: the story of the director of a Kherson school

Her story is featured in a The Guardian article on education in wartime. Olena Shabaieva, director of Kherson School No. 45, participates in training sessions organized by Teach For Ukraine and the Ukrainian Education Consortium: Safe Return to School project (organized by Teach For Ukraine in partnership with Save the Children and the European Union).
During the occupation, she continued to go to school, supporting teachers, children, and those seeking refuge in the school. Olena continues to teach, and the children continue their education at their native school while living in different parts of Ukraine and abroad.
