Every year, Ukrainian children spend hundreds of hours in shelters. They study by flashlight, help clear debris, and mourn their deceased teachers and classmates. Yet in every region, children continue to laugh, dream, and make plans for the future.
Teachers also embody resilience — they continue to teach, support, and protect.

In an article for our partners at Teach For All, Natalia Etten, CEO Teach For Ukraine, explains how knowledge and skills recovery programs help students catch up on lost learning, restore hope, and nurture Ukraine’s future leaders. She also shares stories of Ukrainian educators and children.

Kyrylo recalls: “At night, a drone destroyed my school.” His friend adds: “One exploded a kilometer from my house.” Despite this, both are attending an extra Ukrainian language class. For them, learning is not a duty — it is a declaration that they are here and that their future still matters.
