Eighteen million US dollars have been unlocked to support education in Ukraine through collaboration with the global fund Education Cannot Wait (ECW). The Executive Director of ECW, Yasmin Sherif, and Ukraine’s Minister of Education and Science, Oksen Lisovyi, announced a multi-year support program. Between 2024 and 2026, Teach For Ukraine NGO will be part of a consortium tasked with implementing projects, monitoring, and coordinating the program.
The program will be delivered by two major consortia: a local consortium led by the Kyiv School of Economics and an international consortium headed by the largest Finnish humanitarian organization, Finn Church Aid.
Members of the local consortium include:
- Teach For Ukraine NGO
- The charitable foundation SavED
- Osvitoria NGO
- Projector;
- EdCamp.
Finn Church Aid реалізовуватиме програму в партнерстві з громадськими організаціями DOCCU, Освітня Фундація «МрійДій» та GoGlobal.

A key aspect of the partnership with ECW is localization—engaging Ukrainian organizations not only in project implementation but also in program management. Ukrainian partners will be actively involved in coordination and monitoring, significantly strengthening their experience and capacity.
“Today, Ukraine is determined and equipped not just to survive but to thrive. That is why we see investments in education as investments in human capital, democracy, and the building of a strong, resilient state. Education plays a crucial role, so our efforts focus on restoring every child’s access to learning. I am deeply grateful to Education Cannot Wait for this shared vision and support—not only helping Ukraine respond to the challenges of war but also supporting the long-term rebuilding of the education system,” said Oksen Lisovyi, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine.
The program focuses on three main components: Infrastructure support, improving teaching quality, developing non-formal education
This is a significant milestone, as it will expand our experience and reinforce that investment in quality education is the most effective way to achieve sustainable results.
“War has taken thousands of lives, caused immeasurable destruction, forced millions to flee their homes, traumatized a generation of children, torn families and communities apart, and devastated the economy. By investing in the education of girls and boys who have lost so much in this horrific conflict, we are investing in their resilience and Ukraine’s right to peace, stability, and economic prosperity,” said Yasmin Sherif, Executive Director of Education Cannot Wait.
