We are glad to announce the start of our engagement in the joint efforts on Education in Emergencies (EiE) within the Education Sectoral Working Group, coordinated by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Teach For Ukraine has been selected as a national co-chair of the Education in Emergencies Thematic Working Group (EiE TWG), representing Ukrainian civil society organizations contributing to the humanitarian response in education .
Other co-chiers of the group arethe Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the international organization Save the Children.

The EiE Thematic Working Group brings together UN agencies, international NGOs, and national NGOs.

The objectives of the working group are to:

✔️ Coordinate the actions of partners in the education sector during the war to ensure that every child has access to safe, inclusive, and quality learning — regardless of their place of residence.
✔️ Ensure joint strategic planning, data sharing, expert collaboration, and advocacy.
✔️ Align the efforts of the Ministry of Education and Science, national, and international partners, linking humanitarian action with the strategic agenda of recovery and development.

Among the group’s key functions:

🔸 coordination of humanitarian education response;
🔸 support to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in planning and needs assessment;
🔸 integration of humanitarian measures into national education strategies;
🔸 advocating for every child’s right to education during wartime;
🔸 sharing of data, experience, and best practices among partners.

The creation of the Thematic Working Group marks an important step in transferring the functions of the Education Cluster in humanitarian coordination to state education authorities during wartime.
This is a new stage of partnership, where the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, together with local and international organizations, strengthens efforts through shared experience and resources.

The working group operates in line with the humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence, and is also focused on localization — strengthening the role of Ukrainian organizations in planning, decision-making, and implementing humanitarian actions.

At its first meeting on November 6, 2025, Teach For Ukraine presented local organizations working in the field of education in emergencies.
The group will operate on a permanent basis, engaging partners at both national and regional levels.

Among the speakers of the first meeting are:

Yevhen Kudriavets, First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine

Erin Wall, Education Technical Advisor at Save the Children

Anastasiia Donska, Head of Education Recovery at Teach For Ukraine

Munas Kalden, Education Cluster Coordinator (UNICEF)

Margarita Rymarenko, Education Cluster Coordinator (Save the Children)
