Teach For Ukraine is launching its own podcast — “A Small Teachers’ Council” — created for educators and everyone who cares about education.

Hosted by Kristina Bedriy, a tutoring expert at Teach For Ukraine, the podcast brings honest, heartfelt conversations with experts on topics that teachers face every day — the ones often discussed “behind closed doors”: during late-night chats over coffee, or in training sessions when there’s finally time to step back, reflect, and find inspiration again.

New episodes drop every Sunday, exploring key practices of ecological pedagogy.

The podcast “A Small Teachers’ Council” was created by Teach For Ukraine as part of the project “Strengthening the Future of Mykolaiv – Empowering Resilient Communities, Families, and Civil Society for Reconstruction and Recovery.”
The project is supported by Save the Children and funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.

“Colleagues, grab your coffee or tea, leave the bureaucracy and formalities at the door, make yourselves comfortable — and let’s talk about what truly matters: education.”

“A Small Teachers’ Council” is a space to put lesson plans and gradebooks aside for a while and talk about the teacher’s world — about classrooms and life beyond them, about searching for strength and hope, and about everything funny, painful, and meaningful that sometimes fits into the first five minutes of a lesson.

It’s a space to pause for a moment and share what usually doesn’t make it into reports or plans.

You’ll also find what you love most — open and practical conversations with experts about small tools for big work: how to truly hear a child through the classroom noise, how to talk with parents and stay calm, and how to care for yourself while caring for others.

Expect:

  • practical tools you can use right away;
  • relaxed and insightful conversations with experts about tutoring practices in teaching — asking powerful questions, building connection, reflecting, creative thinking, and much more;
  • real stories and cases from fellow educators.

“A Small Teachers’ Council” is for everyone who carries their students and their stories home each day — and who needs a special space to be heard. It’s our shared space, where teachers can speak for themselves and about themselves.

Episode 1: “Start with Trust”
A conversation about communication techniques for teachers with Sasha Savchenko.

“Do you actually believe what you’re saying?”

In the first episode, host Kristina Bedriy talks with Sasha Savchenko — a mentor in the Teach For Ukraine program and a teacher of language, literature, and art. Together, they explore communication tools for teachers, the art of building connection, and the power of questions that stay with us — not only in working with students, but also in our relationships with ourselves.
Because without that, nothing truly works.

From “Ms. Sasha, could you comfort me?” to conversations about trust, empathetic listening, and the strength of questions that won’t let go.
